Whatever happened to "16 Candles" star Michael Schoeffling?

I was just talking to my bff Melissa about this guy.  Ahhhh!  The eighties!

Then: As Jake Ryan in "Sixteen Candles," Schoeffling represented the kind of guy every teenage girl -- including Molly Ringwald -- dreamed of.

Now: No longer acting, Schoeffling currently makes a living building hand-crafted furniture in Newfoundland, Penn., where he lives with his wife and kids.

From 1984 John Hughes' hit comedy "Sixteen Candles," Molly Ringwald played the title role of Sam and actor Michael Schoeffling made the name Jake Ryan a household name.
